Objectives:

Provide Cal State students a summer research experience at an R1 university in order to familiarize them with life in academia and facilitate application to graduate school in STEM.

Expectations and Outcomes:

• Participate in the Mentoring Summer Research Internship Program (MSRIP) at UCR.

  • Engage in hands-on research to enhance their graduate school application.

  • Participate in MSRIP workshops on career development and applying to graduate school.

  • Present their results at the MSRIP Symposium along with 60+ other students.

• Meet with a UCR faculty mentor and their lab at UCR.

  • Experience how an R1 lab operates.

    • Participate in lab meetings by Zoom.

    • Interact with graduate students and postdocs in the lab.

• Follow up with the research experience at their Cal State campus.

• Become part of the larger CUSP/BB2P network.
